[ All it takes is a glance, the barest flick of her fingers disguised as an idle movement to stretch them-- and they have their next meeting spot, once again tucked away in a place where no one's bothering to spend their time and where they can instantly spot if someone's approaching.
Without preamble-- ]
I feel as though we've learned quite a bit and yet not anywhere close to what I would like to know by now.
That we were brought here by some Realm, in order to gather nova, and the three we met are a part of a group of guides who sacrificed their memories in order to support us. We appear to be the only ones who can collect this nova, and we're to be sorted into factions for incentive.
... It all honestly sounds like a children's story.
It does. But we have seen stranger here. I am sure you've met the centaur and the elves. If the others here are to be believed, we are from different times, worlds and timelines as well.
Their confusion as to what the Kingdom of Albion could be faked, but for now it seems real.
[Clears her throat.]
Nova is made up of the memories of those various worlds and everything in them. It is apparently drawn to strong emotions and people, and can be either physical or metaphysical in nature. Presuming we collect it successfully, it will stabilize our worlds, our memories, and allow us to return home.
We'll need to constantly monitor ourselves, it seems. If nothing else, if it's a memory we share, we ought to be able to tell if something seems amiss.
Indeed. Large memories we will be aware of immediately, but we will have to catalogue the smaller memories as well, to be sure we are whole when we leave this place.
[Bleh. This place sucks and she wants to go home to her goals.]
Dorothy knows this is absolutely the fault of whatever is going on in the air or something, but it's not going to keep her from trying to suppress a grin.
Wow, Ange must hate this. ]
Fair enough. I do intend to speak to my faction Leader about that-- there's still too much we don't know and I'm not fond of biding my time on certain matters.
It means you can actually act almost as uncomfortable as you feel.
[ How nice! ]
But it might be linked to what you were saying about strong emotions. I'm sure being made to feel affectionate towards strangers would trigger a variety of those.
I suppose. They did speak of "the Realm" as if it were some sort of sentient thing, despite it being this place. If it is trying to nudge us along to finding nova on its own, this would be one way to go about it.
week 0, day 4
Without preamble-- ]
I feel as though we've learned quite a bit and yet not anywhere close to what I would like to know by now.

The situation has only grown more complicated.
There is one glaring, important hole in what we've learned.
[A beat. She shakes her head.]
We should start from the top.

... It all honestly sounds like a children's story.

Their confusion as to what the Kingdom of Albion could be faked, but for now it seems real.

[ Understatement. ]
Speaking of memories, have you noticed any differences?
no subject
You?
no subject
Whatever it was, it might actually be rather inconsequential to start off with. Though clearly the same doesn't apply to everyone.
no subject
They did suggest it would be different for different people... or rather that they could not predict how each person's memory loss would occur.
no subject
We'll need to constantly monitor ourselves, it seems. If nothing else, if it's a memory we share, we ought to be able to tell if something seems amiss.
no subject
[Bleh. This place sucks and she wants to go home to her goals.]
One more thing--the teams.
no subject
[ As she... reaches out to ruffle Ange's hair?
Okay. ]
Right. I'm going to go ahead and assume you and I are both in different factions.
no subject
Ange doesn't twitch, but she does blink.]
According to Rabbit, disrupting the rules could unravel this world's situation even more quickly.
[... Ange reaches up to tug Dorothy's hand away, but... then she holds onto it in both of hers? Weird.]
For now, we should avoid sharing our factions until we know more about the consequences of breaking that rule.
no subject
Dorothy knows this is absolutely the fault of whatever is going on in the air or something, but it's not going to keep her from trying to suppress a grin.
Wow, Ange must hate this. ]

no subject
So, so much.
Her expression is unchanging, but she can't seem to help the way that she goes from holding Dorothy's hand to...kind of leaning against her.]
You should. For now, I intend on keeping up my cover even with the faction Leaders, so there is only so much I can pry out.
[... She leans more.
And:]
Don't say a word.
no subject
[ And she wraps an arm around Ange's shoulders, now doing her best not to laugh. ]
But this truly is the most convincing effect for your cover, isn't it?
no subject
My cover is a young orphan girl who is easily flustered by displays of affection.
[... Leans into that hug, resting her cheek on Dorothy's shoulder.
What the fuck is this.]
Is this a mental effect that is attached to losing memories?
no subject
[ How nice! ]

[... she still haaaates it.]
no subject
This one might be rather tame, but who knows how long that will last.
[1/2]
[She makes it sound so easy... but, well. They've both done shady things in pursuit of their missions.
She doesn't like not being in control of herself, but it's doable.]
This would be considered merely an unusual handicap on the--
[2/2]
.......]
Oh, so that is what I've forgotten.
no subject
I'm sorry. Do you mean to tell me you've forgotten the name of your alien home?
[ Oh my god. ]
no subject
It will not come to me, no matter how I remind myself it is something I should know.
What a peculiar sensation.
no subject
[ Because Dorothy has heard so much shit about the goddamn planet that she's been over it for years. ]
no subject
Ange just frowns a bit at that.]
Regardless, that is one memory down, at least. Do you have any idea what you've forgotten?
